Wednesday, 26 April 2006
For the commemoration of the 800th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Mongolian State, a big statue is to be constructed in the Khan-Uul district, center of the Ulaanbaatar city, soon. The statue will reflect teaching of the Alungoo mother for her five sons and would be as symbol of the Mongolians’ solidarity.
The character of Alungoo mother is derived from the "Secret history of the Mongols", the first literary work of Mongolian culture. It is a historical account that was written for the royal Mongol family some time after Chinggis Khaan’s death in 1227 AD, by an anonymous author, originally in Uigur script. Although it's historic significance is doubted sometimes, it has played an important role in reconstruction parts of this for Mongolia essential period in history.

Inscriptions on the statue are: Alungoo says her teaching to her five sons: You all were conceived in my womb. If you would be as one arrow, any one can give you harm. If you would be as a package of arrows, you’ll be invisible and able to defeat your enemy.

This Statue of Teaching of the Alungoo mother to be constructed under the auspices of Mr. N.Enkhbayar, president of Mongolia. Design and style of the 5 meter Statue is to be made by the popular Mongolian painter and sculptor J.Duurentogs.
