Chinese Restaurants in Ulaanbaatar Attacked |

Mongolia Web News, Ulaanbaatar. Xinhua Press Agency reports that two Chinese restaurants in downtown Ulaanbaatar were attacked by a
group of unknown thugs on Tuesday afternoon, injuring two
Chinese people and causing various damage. This is a new case in a string of violence against Chinese businesses in Mongolia's capital. Although generel figures on crime seem to be on the decrease, there is strong sentiments against the Chinese community in Mongolia. As Mongolia becomes more and more economically dependend on the giant neighbour, anti-china sentiments have been increasing In one of restaurants, named "Beijing Duck", the attackers smashed windows
and tableware, threw over tables, beat a Chinese person in the head
with a stick and injured the establishment's boss with a kitchen knife.
Mongolian police, who attended the incident, detained three people but four other suspects fled.
The Chinese Embassy in Ulaanbaatar has appealed to Mongolia
police to bring the attackers to justice and take concrete measures to
protect all Chinese companies in Mongolia.
