Dining with Genghis Khan - in Honululu PDF Print E-mail

The Honolulu Advertiser reports on the possibility to witness "Diner with Genghis Khan" during a Silk Road flower show:

Towering replicas of camels will beckon visitors to mythical Shangri-la and dinner with Mongol emperor Genghis Khan, among other exotic scenarios, at The Silk Road, a free flower show Friday through Sunday at the Honolulu Academy of Arts.

Another flower arrangement category is Dining With Genghis Khan, a dining vignette — complete with furniture, accessories and flower arrangement — to depict a fictional meal with the emperor in Mongolia, Venice or any other place he may have traveled along the Silk Road, said Vogel, of Diamond Head.

During the Stalinist purges of the 1930's almost every monastery in Mongolia was destroyed. In 1979 an atlas was published in Ulaanbaatar by Mr. Rinchen with an overview of more than 900 religious sites that used to exist in Mongolia. However a lot the information listed seems to be not accurate. A research has been initiated to get a better idea of all the buddhist buildings that once stood in Mongolia.
