After 800 Years, the Last March of the Empire of the Golden Horde
The Mongolian Government has formally announced tourism promotion as one of its key national policies. For that reason, Mongolians are proud to offer all visitors to Mongolia this summer the once in a lifetime opportunity to experience a never before seen thirteenth century reenactment of one of Genghis Khan’s grand military processions. The event, enjoying the full support of the Mongolian Ministry of Defense, will feature as many as 500 cavalrymen, hoof beats pounding the Mongolian steppe mounted just as their ancestors once proudly rode to conquer Asia. The two-hour long cavalcade will be reenacted 30 times throughout the summer of 2006. Genghis Khan’s cavalry procession is only a small part of the Festival of Eurasia, which is scheduled to take place during July and August in the village of Togrog, Tov Prefecture, and will include traditional Mongolian food stalls as well as song and dance performances.
The Opening Ceremony to the historical “Chinggis Khaan’s Cavalry Rides Again” event will be held on July 10, 2006. The Mongolian government has officially recognized the Opening Ceremony as a national event.
The cavalry procession is being co-hosted by the 800th Anniversary of Mongolian States (Mongolia) and by the 800th Anniversary of Mongolian States LLP (Japan). Three major Japanese companies are involved in the planning of this event: H.I.S. CO., LTD. (Shinjyuku Ward, Tokyo); Japan’s largest advertising company, DENTSU INC. (Minato Ward, Tokyo); and Itochu Corporation (Minato Ward, Tokyo), one of the three largest trading houses in Japan. Mongolia’s leading travel agency Juulchin Tourism Corporation (founders of the Juulchin Mongol Naadam Co. Ltd) will also be working with the Mongolian Government on this campaign.
Admission tickets to the cavalry ride can be purchased at travel agencies displaying the “Chinggis Khan 800th Anniversary of Mongolian States” logo. Tickets can also be ordered by contacting the LLP directly by e-mail, fax or phone. Inquiries in English, Spanish and Japanese are welcome. In Mongolia, please inquire about tickets at select ticket dealerships displaying the event logo.
