Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/. On Monday some of stallholders of
the burnt SAPU trade center erected three gers on the Sukhbaatar Square
to launch a hunger strike again. On Tuesday, they went to the Health
Department of Sukhbaatar District to undergo medical inspection in
order to check if they fit to a hunger strike. Ts.Amarzaya, leader of
the Trade Union of the stallholders, said,
"We are full of determination
to continue our struggle. The Mongolian society is unhealthy. Almost 80
percent out of the fire-affected are the single mothers who manage
their life without taking money allowance for children from the state.
We have been suffering the consequencies of the fire for four months.
Our livelihoods have been worsening. It turns to be that in Mongolia
there are no emergency funds and state policy to protect citizens from
outcomes of sudden accidents..."
After inspecting the strikers, the
Deputy Head of the Health Department of Sukhbaatar District,
TS.Ganchimeg said," 26 persons have been inspected by 7-8 specialists.
They are fitting to participate in the hunger strike. Medical service
will be given to the persons who do not have any chronic ilnesses to
clean their stomachs. The final decision will be made afternoon.
