Mongolia Forgets to Celebrate Victory Day |

Today is the 61st anniversary of Victory Day. Only a few years back Mongolians used to celebrate this day broadly. But now days there are only a few articles in newspapers.
In the history, in 16 April 1945 Russian Red Army attacked Berlin. After days of fierce battle Nazi signed the surrender report in Karlskhorstod Germany. At that event there were leaders of Russia, USA, Great Britain and France. Under Soviet influce this day was widely celebrated in Mongolia, although there was no involvement of Mongolia in the European front of WW2 the second world war.
Montsame does report: On the 61st anniversary of the great victory gained by the former USSR
in the World War II a wreath was laid Tuesday at the Monument of
Marshal G.K.Jukov in Ulaanbaatar and the glory of the Russian soldiers
was honored. Present ast the ceremony were a staff of the Russian
Embassy in Mongolia headed by the Russian Ambassador to the country Mr.
V.S.Govorin; the officials headed by the Deputy Minister of Defense of
Mongolia Mr. B.Erdenebat; a staff from the Embassy of Kazakhstan to
Mongolia and other officials.
