Even though government officials had called for discounts, price
rises implemented by public transportation operator companies took
effect on January 3.
Ulaanbaatar's commuters now have to
pay an extra MNT 100 to ride a bus or microbus, and an extra 250tg for
the first kilometer of every taxi ride
How ever the Pime
Minister had made a television appearnace on January 2 to
announce that public transport would remain at the old price and the
Chairman of the Metropolitan Public Transport Regulation Department had
issued an order to keep fares at the same price, but the companies paid
no attention and upped their prices regardless.
