"Spring song" contest won by Inner Mongolian participants PDF Print E-mail

Mongolia Web News, Ulaanbaatar. On May 12, was held the final of the “Spring Song Contest” which was organized as part of the “Who sings Mongolian songs best?” competition among foreign students in Mongolia. The first lap of the contest was held on May 05 and fifteen students from China, Inner Mongolia and Russia were chosen for the final. Judges said that “It was difficult to select foreign students who sing Mongolian song, as participants were all talented”. U.Bulag, who sang a Mongolian song “Father and Mother”, took first place in a contest. He is a student from Inner Mongolia, studies at Music and Dance College in Mongolia. Inner Mongolian citizen E.Uragshlalt, who studies also MD College, took a second place. The third place was taken also Inner Mongolian citizen B.Khurelbaatar, who studies at Cultural institute Mongolia

This totally stupid. Firstly, "Inner Mongolians" shouldn't have been treated as foreigners in Mongolia; and secondly, not only Mongolian is mother tongue for these Mongoians - well, in your words, "Inner" Mongolians, also those winners are all professionals in singing. Then very obvious, who will win is crystal clear before the contest even takes place. Let me tell you: No matter how more many times this contest thing may take place in future, "Inner" Mongolian will always win as long as they stay in that "foreigner" category!

As far as I know inner mongolian never have to drop their tradition to please anyone for the last hundreds of years, whereas under soviets influence outer Mongolia have gone westernized willingly or unwillingly and almost lost their own culture. It is time to accept this fact and welcome others to help revive mongolian culture.
