Protests against Mongolia's New General Election Committee PDF Print E-mail

Mongolia Web News, Ulaanbaatar. Yesterday the nine new members of the General Election Committee took their oath in Government House. Meanwhile various movements and political parties protested against the new composition of the Election Committee, as the comprised of only representatives of the MPRP and Democratic Party. formerly new members have to give up the membership of their party, but in practise they still remain to have intense ties with their party of origin.
The Healthy Society Movement, the Green Party of Mongolia, the People's Party and the Civil Will Party had joint demonstration against the new members because at Liberty (Yalalt) Square at 11.30am. Protesters held slogans saying “Did MPRP win the 2004 election?” and rather surprisingly: “MPRP should stop its anarchist view”.
Protesters went to the office of the General Election Committee’s. When they found the door was locked,  they “sealed” the door with a silk ribbon saying “Sealed for justice".
