US Embassy warns for shortage of lodging and transport in Mongolia PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 23 June 2006
The US embassy posted a announcement regarding problems with lodging and transport in this summer season in Mongolia:

The Government of Mongolia significantly increased summer tourism to Mongolia for 2006 through targeted advertising and there has been little indication that service capacity has expanded to match potential increased demand.  In addition to lodging scarcity (see our original message of February 9, 2006 at  http://mongolia.usembassy.gov/tw_02092006.html ) flights into and out of Mongolia are heavily booked.  The week of July 9-15 is particularly challenging with flight wait lists of up to 90 passengers with limited hotel/lodging availability in June and even fewer options for July.  The room shortage continues through August and September, peak tourist months in Mongolia. We advise those contemplating travel to Mongolia to consider the lack of available lodging and air transportation services before establishing firm plans to travel and to reconfirm such services, especially departure flights, prior to arrival and again upon arrival.

et le ciel bleu! C'est plus confortable que une chambre dans "Hilton Oulan Bator", mes amis.

You may have flight & accommodation shortage during late June till middle of July.
From mid of July till beginning of October you can travel to Mongolia without any trouble.
But make sure your accommodation is booked before your arrival in Mongolia.

I think Nyam may be a bit too optimistic. Flights by Aeroflot from Moscow to UB were already fully booked for June, July and first half of August as early as the first week of January. Travel agents may have some seats available but I'm in no doubt seats aren't easily available.

The US government has written above statement intentionally to
As a tourist in Mongolia from the US, I can assure you that there's no such thing as shortage of lodging and transportation
in Mongolia. If you have planned to visit Mongolia this summer, better do that quickly. This recommendation is mainly because of the Genkhis Khan's 800 years
anniversary. And remember this great person's life and many victorious wars He fought. So visit Mongolia and own a piece
of history!!!!!!
