International Conference on History and Tradition of the Mongolian Statehood PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 30 June 2006
In connection with the International Conference on History and Tradition of the Mongolian Statehood, the President of Mongolia N.Enkhbayar extended his greetings to the participants of the conference and wished them success. In his speech, the President said, "Eight hundred years ago, Great Chinggis Khaan ensured the statehood status of nomadic tribes thus creating a unified state of all Mongols, which expanded to the Great Mongolian State covering the vast territory of Eurasia. This historically significant event enhanced the statehood tradition of the Mongolian nomads, which rooted from the Hunnu Empire and became a start for strengthening the united Mongol nation. Adoption of Resolution by the UN General Assembly 60th Session, inviting its agencies and other organizations and member states to celebrate the historical anniversary of the Great Mongolian State as expression of significant contribution and achievement of the nomads to the world civilization, demonstrates that this anniversary is not only a matter of joy and pride of us, Mongols. Both senior and young generations of scholars representing Russia, China, Germany, France, Turkey, India, the UK, Japan, Hungary and Kazakhsatn--countries that are making a solid contribution to the development of Mongol studies--will express own views on the Mongolian statehood history and tradition and give a fresh breath to the several hundred years long development of Mongol Studies. As the agenda suggests, this international scientific conference grants the participants an excellent opportunity to open a multidisciplinary assessment of the Great Mongolian State s role in the development of the world civilization and mankind history, as well as the statehood tradition and culture of Mongolia. The Mongolian statehood history and tradition is a large field of study with numerous delicate and complicated issues lost and misinterpreted in the flow of time to be studies deeper in the future. In August of this year, the 9th Assembly of Mongolists will be convened under the aegis of the President of Mongolia. A Presidential award is to be granted to best research works on the history and culture of Mongolia, the number of Presidential awards to young foreign scholars is to be increased and the Mongolian Government is to start a project to award grants to foreign Mongolists to do research and defend their works at scientific institutions together with famous Mongolian scholars."
