Mongolia Visit Japanese Prime Minister Koizumi started |

Mongolia Web News, Ulaanbaatar. The Japanese Prime Minister Mr. Junichiro Koizumi started his official visit to Mongolia yesterday. It is his second visit. In 1989 when he was the minister of Health and Social Welfare, he paid his first visit to Mongolia. He is the third the Japanese Prime Minister who is coming to Mongolia. In 1991 Mr. T. Kaifu and in 1999 Mr. Obuchi paid their official visit. Japan is the largest donor to Mongolia in ammount of aid given and Koizumi will present another 3 million dollars in funds for scholarships. There has also been rumour that Japan would contribute to a new airport to be build in Tov Aimag. As part of the visit Koizumi has engaged in several official meetings including one with his counterpart prime minister Enkhbold of Mongolia, but also laid a wreath at the new Chinggis Khaan (Djengis Khan) statue at the central square that is part of the new complex that is still under construction, but was especially opened for the ocasion. Koizumi also vist a a performance in the National Opera Theater.
