UN team surveys food safety in Mongolia |

Montsame reports: A team of representatives from four UN systemized organizations has arrived in Mongolia with the aim to conduct a survey into food safety, said Pratibha Mehta, UNDP Resident Representative in Mongolia, at her meeting with Mongolian Prime Minister. During their sty in Mongolia up until October 20, the team intends to research whether food safety is completely ensured in the country and to issue a recommendation for the public. The activities of the team will be carried out in close cooperation with the Mongolian Government, related ministries, agencies, state administrative institutions and the public, Ms. Mehta assured. The Premier expressed his thanks to Ms. Mehta for the presence of the UN professionals in Mongolia under the request by the Mongolian Government. He wished great success to the team who has already launched its activity by organizing important meetings on food supply, safety and hygiene issues. Mr. Enkhbold said the National Security Council will shortly hold a meeting to discuss food safety issues. He noted that "the autumn when the Mongolians usually prepare their food stuff for winter provides appropriate conditions for the UN team to conduct the above survey."
