Dynamics of the External Security Environment of Mongolia PDF Print E-mail

A talk organised by the American Centre for Mongolian Studies entitled "Dynamics of the external security environment of Mongolia and the challenges of transformation for the Mongolian military" will take place at 5 pm, November 16th, 2006, at the National University of Mongolia, Building 1, Lecture Hall.

Major D. Munkh-Ochir will present a lecture on the evolution of Mongolian diplomatic and military affairs in the 21st century. This lecture will touch on aspects of Mongolian involvement in United Nations mandated peacekeeping operations, which have increased in recent years, providing the country with opportunities to gain recognition as a significant participant in global affairs. Major D. Munkh-Ochir is an officer in the Mongolian Armed Forces and Senior Analyst at the Institute for Strategic Studies. He is a member of the advisor board to the President on foreign affairs, as well as a lecturer and PhD candidate at the National University of Mongolia. This lecture is open to the public. Akira KAMIMURA, lecturer, faculty of Mongolian studies, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies launched an innovative website on old Mongolian manuscripts maps in cooperation with the state archive of Mongolia. It contains 16 precious maps which are stored at the state archive for academic use. The oldest map was estimated being made in 1803-1805.
