Airport renamed after Genghis Khan PDF Print E-mail

Buyant Ukhaa airport has without much publicity been renamed "Chinggis Khaan International Airport". Unknowning travellers were surprised to hear upon touchdown the pilots announcement mentioning this new name.
According a resolution of cabinet proposed by the ministry of tourism and transport the name was changed starting January 1st.

enough with this renaming-everything-to-chingis stuff, my mongolian brovs, isn't our obsession with our great ancestor running it's course, perhaps we should name every child chinghis so that we can be like korean's "kim" or chinese "chin" or "wang"... think about it , it's turning into a personality cult, and as history taught us that is never a good idea...

Indeed one could always be cynical about subjects that they haven't got much to say about, but based on what the previous lousy comments trying to say and to try to shut them up- from the name recognition point of view, internationally, it is the wisest thing to do...

Why change? Buyant Uhaa is, indeed, a welcoming word (a hill or a mountain that brings a good luck or a good omen???). We already have a Chingis vodka, a Chingis hotel, a Chingis college so on and so forth. Enough already!. Isn't this showing disrecpect to someone's name? How about renaming Ulan Batar Chingistown?.
