Netherlands supports Ulaanbaatar City Improvement PDF Print E-mail

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The Second Ulaanbaatar Services Improvement Project reports that under the project a grant of USD 1.8 million from the Government of the Netherlands was recevied for Ulaanbaatar city environmental improvement. The works are aimed to increase the city's green facilities. The initial stage of the project was implemented and commissioned in October and November, 2005. Currently the final stage including the construction of drainage, road and bridge are being implemented and will be finalized within June of 2006.

In 2005 within the project the investment of 1.5 billion tugrug was made for renovation of city streets and parks, construction of irrigation system, extension and renovation of tree nursery, establishment of black currant tree grove in schools and kindergarten, planting berry trees and bushes in ger area household plots (total of 4639 beneficiary households were participated) and construction of flood protection drainage and bathhouse in 6 districts of UB city- Bayanzurkh, Bayangol, Chingeltei, Sukhbaatar, Songinokhairhan, Khan-Uul and Batsumber sum of Tuv aimag.
