The Crown Prince of the Netherlands Willem Alexander and his wife
princess Maxima will pay a visit to Mongolia from June 14 to 18. The
royal couple will represent Queen Beatrix in celebrating the 800th
anniversary of Mongolian Statehood on the invitation of President
Enkhbayar of Mongolia. Later in the year visits are expected from
Prince Andrew of the United Kingdom and President Chirac from France.
Mongolia and the Netherlands have an intense relationship that focusses on international development, with a special emphasis on environmental issues. Current projects include the improvement of the urban environment in Ulaanbaatar. The
visit of the Dutch Royal coule will include a visit to the Hustai Nuruu
national park, where the Netherlands has been funding the
reintroduction of the Przewalski horse. Additionally several cultural
and social projects will be visited.
