The Mongolian Academy of Sciences
has opened a technology incubator to create business opportunities by
merging the academic sciences with Mongolian businesses.
Officials explained that the
Ulanbaatar center will allow scholars and scientists to develop ideas
to be brought to markets as viable businesses. The center will provide
both the scientific and business knowledge to allow this to take place.
The purchasing and installation
of scientific equipment for the center took nearly one year, at a cost
of $598,000.
An opening ceremony center
was attended by the first Vice Premier N.Altankhuyag, president of the
Academy of Sciences B.Chadraa, director of the incubator center Ts.Oold,
and others.

Who is funding the Technology Incubator Centre?
Is the increasing commercialization of science a good thing?
Will there still be funding available for basic research in areas for which there is no commercial partner available?
