Mongolia’s Eznis Airways
may expand its fleet with a 50-passenger turboprop passenger plane.
Negotiations are underway with
Italian aircraft-maker ATR to acquire an ATR 42-500. The plane would
be used for domestic flights as well as for flights to Irkusk and Ulan
Ude in Russia, Hailar and Harbin in China and Ust-kamenogorsk in Kazakhstan.
Regular flights to Irkusk will
begin next month.
Eznis currently operates a
fleet of three Saab 340Bs. It is hoping to have the ATR 42-500 in service
by May, just prior to the beginning of Mongolia’s tourist season.
