Crown Prince Naruhito of Japan will arrive in Mongolia on Tuesday to mark the 35th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Naruhito will spend eight days in Mongolia. He has told reporters he hopes his visit will deepen his understanding of Mongolia’s history and culture.

Speaking of his visit, Naruhito mentioned his "great" interest in Mongolia because it is "deeply" connected with Japan "ethnically and historically." "I'd like to deepen understanding in such areas as climate, history and culture," Naruhito said.

The Crown Prince further said his 5-year-old daughter, Princess Aiko, was excited to learn he would travel to Mongolia because she is a fan of Mongolian sumo grand champion Asashoryu.
