The Mongolian government has taken steps to open its doors to workers from North Korea.

A law to provide work visas to North Koreans was placed on the agenda of the Mongolia’s Parliament last week.

The law, which expands a Mongolian-North Korean intergovernmental agreement on exchanges of work forces, would allow North Korean workers to enter Mongolia to work in the country’s road and construction industries.

While it was not disclosed how many North Korean citizens would be allowed to work in Mongolia, there are currently some 200 working in construction and a variety of medical-related jobs, according to the Minister of Social Welfare and Labor.
