Mongolians will now be able
to receive visas to enter South Korea for multiple visits during a one-year
period. Previously, a new visa had to be applied for each time a Mongolian
citizen wished to enter the country.
In explaining his directive,
Kim Myung-bak, the newly elected President of the Republic of Korea,
said he has ordered the new visa procedure for Mongolian citizens, as
well as 12 other Asian countries.
Myung-bak said the multiple
use visas would allow South Korea to develop its culture and tourism
sectors.
Though not every category of
visitor will be eligible, multi-use visas will be issued to Mongolian
aircrew members flying regularly to South Korea; citizens who have traveled
to South Korea four to five times in the last two years; and to businessmen
working in the energy sectors in Korea and traveling to conduct mining
and trade activities.
