China’s vice president has called for closer ties with Mongolia.

Meeting Thursday in Ulaanbaatar, Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping said his country is ready to “join hands” with Mongolia to improve economic and cultural ties.

In speeches, Xi said a “shared respect for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity,” has been the cornerstone of relationships between the two countries.

Mongolian President N.Enkhbayar met with Xi, following which the Chinese Vice President thanked Mongolia for aid and its condolences offered after last month's deadly earthquake in southwest China.

It was noted that Mongolia and China will celebrate 60 years of diplomatic relations next year.

I truly hope that Mongolia isn't being eyed as the next, Chinese 'living room'. China has an unenviable reputation for this.
Anybody recall Tibet?
