One-third of the government’s
agencies will be consolidated under plans approved by parliament.
Action will see agencies reduced
from the current 65 to only 42, with an expected savings of $1.9 million.
The move to consolidate agencies
has, in part, been prompted by the growing privatization of properties
and services that had previously been supervised by state agencies.
However, considerable expenses
will be initially incurred for unemployment compensation and changing
the names of agencies and other administrative issues.
The cost of unemployment compensation
for workers is expected to reach $817,000.
