Last Monday the newly elected president of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj was immediately confronted with the hardships of a president. Elbegdorj and his supporters celebrated their victory in Sukhbaatar square. During his speech, E.Delgermurun, a citizen of VI khoroo, Khan-Uul district took off his shoes and threw them at Elbegdorj. While drunk at that moment, he was arrested and spent some time in custody in Sukhbaatar district police station. After that, he was called to trial at Sukhbaatar district. According to the Law on Administration Duty, he will be arrested for 21 days.
As he explained to the Jury, “I was drunk and at one point I had to throw my shoes. I did not have any intentions. Just wanted to throw. When President George W.Bush visited Iraq, he was thrown a shoe as well.”
