A university in Wales, UK is planning to build four Mongolian yurts to house 34 students.

The plan is part of an overhaul of a former youth hostel purchased by University of Central Lancashire.

Town leaders, however, have insisted that the yurts be temporary structures to be removed in two years.

In documents to be presented to the Denbighshire’s planning committee next Wednesday, the university has said it is, “currently in the process of acquiring the site and the erection of the yurts is required to provide outdoor development work for experimental learning.

“However, given their canvas construction, it is considered prudent to include a condition limiting the yurts to a temporary period only.”

Students will live in the yurts while the hostile undergoes renovations.
