Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/. The annual consultative meeting of the mining
sector delegates launched on Wednesday in Ulaanbaatar. This year s
meeting brought together foreign investors, illegal gold extractors,
and residents of rural areas where gold is extracted, and delegates
from rural nature protection movements not only delegates of biggest
gold extracting companies. The meeting provides the attendees with
possibilities for discussing their urgent problems, difficulties, and
achievements. Branch meetings of the consultation will be held on
Wednesday in the Nukht complex under the themes; mining. health, and
mining-environment and its plenary meeting will be arranged on Thursday
in the Government House. The meeting activities are financed by the
Cooperation Project of Switzerland. A recommendation on sudden profit
tax will be issued at the meeting. The World Bank Advisor Mr. G.Dore
will submit a report in the mining sector to the Mongolian President as
well. In the mining sphere of Mongolia, there are 12 thousand
specialists and 120 thousand illegal gold extractors or people, who
extract gold by manual work. More than 300 delegates of the illegal
gold extractors are attending the above meeting.
